Journal # 10

     The last class started at 5:00pm.  My  classmates and I said the oral report about the chapter nine of the book the picture  of Dorian Gray.

      The majorite of my classmates said that the chapter nine was very bored and very long. In my coment I said: For many years  Dorian  couldn’t free himself from the memory  of the book and this book was given by Lord Harry in chapter eight. Is interesting  because seemed to tell the story of Dorian.

      On the other hand, the portrait  has aged while, Dorian was very young and handsome. Dorian was in love of his own beauty and  the young men admired to Dorian and some copied his mode of dressing and his style. The people didn’t know how someone like him was could have escaped of his age. I think who Dorian has many time because he practiced many things, some are: jewelry, the art the turned his attention to embroideries.

        For the other hand the teacher explained and showed how to write formal emails and then we worked in couples. I worked with Adriana and we practice about it. She sent me an email and I sent her other. For example my email for her was:

Hello Adriana.

       Can you helpme please with my oral report, it is for next Monday.

        Then in the Dropbox we  read and summarize an information about Writing Effective letters  and for practice this topic we made  a formal letter, the letter was for Miss Yerlin from Clara Patricia.

To conclude this journal, I think the class was very important because we learned how to make a letter and a formal email and know that is very necessary.

Journal #9 

         At the begining  of the class my classmates and I said the oral report number eight of the book  The Picture of Dorian Gray. In  my report I said: Dorian  wanted to hide  portrait, and two men carried the portrait to a room at the top of the house. This room hide for him the curious secret of his life and also hide his soul. Then Dorian received  a gift, a book, the newspaper and also the note from Lord Harry. He opened Harry’s note that was said: he sent him a newspaper, a book and that he would be at the club at 8:15.

        Then Dorian read a paragraph of the newspaper that said inquest of an actress. The news was about Sibyl Vane and Dorian was angry with Harry because he sent the newspaper with the news marked with red and Victor could  have read it but, he also though he did not have to fear, he did not kill Sibyl Vane. The other hand Dorian read the book and it was the strangest book  he had read, this book absorbed him. Then he went to dinner with Harry and apologized for being late but he told him it was his fault because the book fascinated him. This chapter was very long but also was very interesting and entertaining.

           In that class we did not see new material, that day we left early because the teacher was sick, but before, the teacher told us that we must  do a resume and that resume must have all the imformation about us, like personal information, titles and others and Yuly Espinoza makes it by 7000. The teacher will review it at April 27th. So, the teacher told us to open an account in pinterest to saw ideas of resume. In my case I liked so much  this application, was very entertaining and I can found all it that  I like, how pages about makeup, fashion, and much other things.

          When I got home, I had a problem, my titles were lost and I did not find them anywhere I was very worried for that. I  looked for them for two days and thank God I found them.

         Of that class  what I liked most was browsing in the aplication Pinterest and pinterest has very good ideas to make a resume.

Journal # 8

         I didn’t go the last class because I was sick, so I asked to my classmate Johana, what they did or if they saw a new topic. At the begining that class they said the reading report of the chapter number seven. In my case I read the book and made my report but I didn’t said because I didn’t go.

         So at the begining this chapter Basil said to Dorian that he called him and was told that he was in the opera, but Basil thinks that was imposible because Sibyl was lying dead. Basil thinks that  Dorian changed a lot and said  “this is Harry’s influence. Then they talked about the portrait. Dorian did not want Basil to see the portrait and said him that “if you saw it I would never speak with you". For Basil this was ridiculous and said “I shouldn’t see my own work especially as I am going to exhibit in Paris.

        Then Basil admit that he adored to Dorian madly for that he grews  afraid that the world would know of his idolatry, for that he resolved never to allow the picture to be exhibited but now he want exhibit  the portrait, but Dorian does not want him to see the portrait and said him “you and I are friends and we must always remain so. Then Basil leave very sad and Dorian smiled to himself, “poor Basil”. How little he knew of the true reason why he did not see the portrait.

         In that class they saw introduction, body and conclusion and with the information  about racism they made an outline and after a little essay, the groups worked on that whole class. In the case Johana’s group her essay was about types of racism, where is more common? and One of the points they spoke was about racism in schools and also they gave ways to eliminate racism. When they finished that  work some groups read your essay. For the next class we must bring computer and some titles but I did not find mine. I think I’ll take my son’s titles.

        For  me that class was very important because my classmates put into practice how to make an outline and also how to make an essay and when they read their essay and said the reading report they practiced the oral part which is very good for

everyone because it helps to improve the fluency and have more knowledge in that language  that we  all want to domine.

     

         

Journal # 7 Reading Strategies

Journal #7

       At the begining of the class we said the reading report of the chapter six of the book The Picture of Dorian Gray. In my report I said: in this chapter, the portrait still had an evil expression and he did not know what to do or what to think. Dorian wrote a passionate letter to Sibyl Vane, but he don’t know that Sibyl Vane was dead. So Lord Harry said him Sibyl Vane was leaving the theatre with her mother, so she said she had forgotten something and then found her lying dead on the floor of her dressing-room,she drank something  and have no doubt it was not an accident, althoug in the news they say that she drank it by mistake. Dorian not believe it and he said it is a horrible lie. Then Dorian admitted that this that has happened does not affect him as he should.

        Then when Lord had left, he saw again the portrait and Dorian thinks the cruelty that marred the fine line of the mouth had no doubt appered at the very moment the  girl had drunk the poison. He thought to pray  that the horrible sympathy that existed between him and picture might  cease and finally he went to the opera.

        All my classmates and I did not believe  what happened in this chapter, we did not imagine that Sibyl Vane is dead. It is very sad what this woman made did  by a men. Also the teacher talked about how different it is this book  of the movie and that it is better not see it yet  so as not to confuse us.

         In that class we saw new topics about a questions about: What is a quote? What is a paraphrase? What is a summary? And What is plagiarism. Also we made practice about this questions and after we answered these questions. Then in group of three classmates, we read a article in the dropbox,  the article was about religión and tolerance and we summarize it, paraphrase it.

       That class was very good and important because we saw very interesting and essential  topics for when we  do a research work of investigation over all the part of the plagiarism it is very important this point for  not to commit plagiarism in a work and thus avoid problems. We  Also practice the oral part that is good for improving fluidity.
