Journal # 23
The last class was about presentations againt, but this was the last presentation. I did not make my presentation because this week was very difficult, I had many jobs and quiz in other matters, my house my son, it is not justification but I could not.
Diana talked about 7 provinces and she said some features and explained each one. Example of some: San Jose capital, most people and restaurants are here. Heredia city of flowers, Alajuela city of mangos, Volcano Poas, Arenal and Lemon afro Caribbean culture.
Johan talked about smartphones, friends or enemies. He said it is good for communication, Internet very necessary no borders and multiple applications, but it is negative when you lose interaction with children and not play the traditional game and people do not talk.
Norman talked about leishmaniasis Is a disease transmitted by the mosquito  this mosquito it is located in tropical areas of the country. Skin is affected by cutaneous ulcers, he showed pictures about this. Cure: the doctor prescribes penisilin.
The  presentation of Fernando was about death also travels by motorcycles in Costa Rica. Nowadays the majority of the accidents are  by motorcycles. He recommends being responsible in streets because many accidents are by irresponsability. Care your life. Also he said that had an accident three years ago.
Yaritsa: her presentation was based on the question Do people need a vocation to have a job? She asked some classmates about this. She talked about this topic because she said that she loves this career and loves to teach, so all people should have the vocation to work with love. She gave the example of the doctors some have vocation but there are others who have not vocation. 
In Deyber's case, he spoke about this question: What happened to the family? There are now many divorces and few marriages and the children are affected. Now God not is the first thing in the family, have others things more important that God also he said that the roles of the parents have changed and then showed pictures of people who support abortion, people like Miley Cyrus who is a person who lost her dignity.
And Johana talked about stress for example: students with stress by exam, questionnaire, oral presentation and others. To relax you can sleep, walk, play with the children and eat chocolates to relax.
Well this class was very good and the presentations were very interesting. In my case I feel very bad because I did not make my presentation because I do not do well in this class to afford the luxury of losing points.

Journal 22

This  class was about exhibitions. Irene was the first to exhibit as usual, she talked about typical food Mexican’s. She gave  ingredients  of tacos al pastor, for example: pork  meat, tortilla, cilantro, onion, lemon and pineapple, she said this dish is delicious. The favorite dish of Irene is Pozole. Chiles en Nogada and guacamole are dishes very traditional in Mexico. Pambazo is other dish,  she gave ingredients and explained  preparation.

Then Johan spoke of Hurricane Otto-Upala. He explained about the heads of water in the Zapote River and how he took many houses also showed photos about this disaster. He said it was very sad to see all the houses flooded and the people desperate, crying because they lost everything.

Everly talked about technology in 2020, first she showed a video about what life will be like in the 2020. Then she explained this video of an amazing house that has a personal assistant and controls everything. From this presentation I really liked the mirror and the kitchen was amazing to see how technology will be in the 2020.

Daniel spoke of calisthenics. What is it? It is a type of extreme exercise and practiced by women and men, is practiced only on the floor and a bar. Said Van Damme was practicing this.

Then Yaritsa talked about animal testing. She said imagine your pets in a testing is very sad, they use animals because are biologycally similar at humans. Also she said cosmetics and hair care use animal, brands like Mac, cover girl, clorox, Pampers, Glade and others,

Johana talked about kinds of students she mentioned some like the quiet, shy students, the class clown, the excuse students for example the dog ate my homework and teacher’s pet.

Diana explained type diseases and gave symtoms. Like cholera symtoms diarrea, fiver. Maningitis: symtoms fiver, headache. Alzheimer: lost memory.

In my case I spoke about Huricane Otto. I said affected countries like Panamá, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Almost the whole country was an red alert. This hurricane affected places are Los Chiles, Bagases and Upala that was the most affected. Left 18 dead 10 in Costa Rica and 8 In Panama.

Well this class was so pretty and  one learns a lot and helps to improve our fluency when speaking and to lose the fear when exposing.

Journal # 21

The last class we started telling the reading report about the book the perks of being a wallflower, this reading report was like the end because we finished it. In my case my comment of the book was about Charlie that was hospitalized for two months because his father found him naked watching TV and it was off. Also I said that Charlie discovered that everything he dreamed about his aunt was true, Hellen touched or abused Charlie every Saturday. When the doctor told the parents that situation his mother did not stop crying and his father was very angry. For Charlie it was the most difficult moment.

It was good to receive the visit of his friends, his teacher, his family and Sam sent him a letter. Then I said that Sam returns so Charlie, Patrick and Sam went to the big boy as usual. Then, they went through the tunnel and they entered. Charlie opened his arms like he was flying. I think Charlie finally felt free.

Then, we made groups of three and we spoke about homophobia. My group was form by Everly, Daniel and me. We talked about homosexual people and all of the groups gave different opinions about this topic. In my case my opinion was that I respect homosexual people, but I disagree because I believe that traditional families are the ones and that is the real family. Even though, I have homosexual friends and they know my opinion about this.

Everly commented that she has a gay friend and when he went out of the closet she felt rare because she was not getting used to be with him like a homosexual person. She said that it was rare when he broke up with his boyfriend and when he received flowers from him.

We were giving our personal opinion and our teacher too, she said that she does not hate gay people but she disagree with that decision. There are different kinds of gays and different reasons to be a gay, for example a rape, or maybe that the person grew up just with the mom, or they born in that way, no one knows.

I think that the class was interesting and funny. Those kinds of topics are useful for us because it is what happen nowadays in the world and in that way we can learn and practice our speaking abilities and to improve our vocabulary and pronuciation.

          Journal # 20

This class was about presentations and each of my classmates expounded on topics of our interest.

Irene talked about Christmas. She showed pictures about this, also talked about the activities performed on this day, such as karaoke, pastorela who is a group of people and sings at the doors of other houses and also questions, creates a list of questions about the members of her family and then everyone tries to respond.

Vane talked about benefits of the food healthy, products as milk, yogurt, fruits, vegetables and she said can help to reduce chronic diseases.

Darlyn talked about Sindrome down. She showed a video about a letter from a child with dowm syndrome to a future mother and she gave the characteristics of the persons with síndrome down, like small nose and flat nasal bridge, small mouth, a big space between the first and second toe short fingers, big eyes and small ears.

 Karol talked about tourism in Costa Rica. She  mentioned volcanoes, forests and beaches, gave features and hubications also showed pictures about all of this.

Fernando spoke about the new president Donald Trump and his pretensions. He said that he is a stupid person because he wants to make a wall between Mexico and the United States and also deport people that are necessary for the country's economy.

Randald then explained about his niece. Her name is Ashley. He said he spent time with her and also said that she is his favorite person in the world. Ashley is one year old in December. Johan talked about his  little boy Joshua, born on September 17, 2014. Then Johan said that his son has health problems, it's a miracle. He also talked about his hobbies such as playing the guitar and jumping on an inflatable horse all over the house and his favorite soccer  team is the league but always says Saprissa, Saprissa, it  is confused  said Johan.

In my case I exposed about benefits of drinking water. Some benefits of drinking water are: help to lose weight. 2 Apptite suppresion. 3 Get energized. 4 Hydrate your muscles  and others.

I liked this class because was very interesting and I learned a lot about different topics that my classmates expoused.

Journal #19

I did not go to the last class, but my classmate Everly told me what they did in class.

They started the class with a ted talk.  The teacher gave some questions, then the teacher repeated the ted talk and they answered the questions. Ted's talk was about a woman who says that when she was 10 she was a student candidate and she lost by a vote because she said that each vote counts and it is important because if she had been given one more vote she would have won.

In the case of Everly told me that this ted was easier than the others and for her it was easy to understand. Well, the teacher gave them the answers, too. In past classes we were doing 3 dialogues with 10 idioms and 10  two word verbs, as I did not go to class and I sent my dialogue to Diana and Karol for the teacher to reviewed it, but that day they presented the talks about their dialogues and my dialogue also, my part was told by johana. For example, my conversation that I made and sent  was about three girls, Dianna, Karol and Elizabeth. They spoke about a girl that had  lost all her money again, also spoke of the difficult was english for Elizabeth and Diana told her english is a piece of cake then they talked about the sad was karol because a man rejected her. This situation is bringing her down.

I could not get the dialogues of the other groups only from Everly's group and she told me that they talked. The conversation 1 of Everly’s group was about  Ann. She had an accident because she and her friend were drunk. The conversation number 2 and 3 were about a new cellphone that can blow up and they were talking a BBQ.

Well for me this class was interesting and important  because  my classmates practice a lot  two word verb and I also was practiced  this topic because I did  my coversation about this, althoug I did not go at this class I liked because was interactive and was fun.

In this class we started listening the song number 9 called “Stan”, but first we studied the vocabulary of the song then we heard it twice.
Then we heard and we take  note about a ted talk by Bruce Muzik called “the big secret nobody wants to tell”. This ted talk was about the secrets  and private life that all of us have.
We  made groups of three classmates and we spoke about How can we become racist, for example my classmate Deyber said “That even today we see racism as in fables there are no black characters and in toys like barbie there is no black barbie and in many things we still see racism and  some classmates spoke of racism to immigrants like the Nicaraguans in Costa Rica and how they discriminate against Mexicans in the United States. Also Sandi spoke about the racism against poor children and the difference between them and what they have money 
 In my case I think the people is racist  when in the family does not teach values as tolerance and respect.
We also talk about the difference between the secret and the lie. I think we've all told lies sometime or keep a secret for ourselves or for someone else. But for me they are very different things.
A secret is something real that has happened and can not be said. A secret is also something that you trust while a lie is something I do myself.
Good to finish the teacher said that each classmate will made  a dialogue with two word verbs to present it the next class.
I liked the last class because we heard  an interesting  ted talk and also because we talked about very important topics and we could improve  our speaking abilities this part was the one that I most liked.

First we heard a ted talk by Monica Lewinsky called The Price of shame. Then we made a group of three classmates and we spoke about story  Monica. This ted talk is about a woman who had an affair with President and all people knew about this situation. She lost her reputation and her life because she was in almost all newspapers, TV programs, later receive an email cyberbullying.
The people didn’t have compassion with her. She said the young people need to change their believe.
Well after we made an oral report number 6 about of the book the perks of being a wallflower. In my case my comment was: Charlie and Patrick are spending a lot of time together and Charlie wants Patrick stop hurting, but he can´t. they take drugs and drink a lot, but more Patrick.
One day, they went to a park where men go and that night Brad was with another man. Also the school year is about to end and Sam, Patrick, his sister, Mery Elizabeth and others are preparing their prom. Elizabeth goes with her new boyfriend Peter and Sam goes with Craig.
His professor Bill gave Charlie the last book to read and is called the spring. His friends go to college, for example Mery Elizabeth will study in Berkeley, Alice will study film in New York and Sam goes to school Penn State, the same as his brother. He said it’s great because he can visit his brother and Sam with a single trip and finally I said Craig and Sam end the relationship.
Then the teacher asked us to do 3 different conversations About 10 languages ​​and 10 two-word verbs, but we could not finish so the teacher told us to bring her as homework for the next class.
And finally the teacher surprised us with a surprise quiz and the same quiz that last time I think I lost it again.
Good to finish all that I can say it was a good class because a lot of conversation practice, the bad was the surprise quiz.

Yesterday  we Heard the song number 8 “Dear mama” twice. Then we made a group and comment on the song, our comment was: the song is about sacrifices of a mother  for her son who made a lot of mistakes when he was a child, this mom did face the life alone  because she was a single mother, but he said “I understand you are appreciated.
Then the teacher gave us the quiz and we  had to revise and to correct.
Also we worked in the unit 13 page 87. The teacher explained the grammar focus: Past modals for degrees of certainty, example: It’s almost certain: She must have left already.\ she must not have turned on her phone.
It’s possible: 1  she may\ might have forgotten the time. 2 she may\might not have remembered the time. 3 Her car could have broken down. It’s no possible: 1 She couldn’t have been at home. After of the explain we made practice about this topic. Also the teacher explained grammar focus of the page 89, Past modals for judgments and suggestions, for example: Judging past action: 1 You should have called  her on the phone. 2 She shouldn’t have kept your notes this long. And  Suggesting alternative past actions: 1 You could have been  more understanding. 2 I wouldn’t have lent them to her. And we made practice of this page.
The teacher explained of the grammar focus of the page 101, Giving recommendations and opinions also explained of the grammar focus of the page 103, Tag questions for opinions and we made practice of the page 101 and 103. The professor left homework for Thursday, consists  in pass all the quiz to notebook. Then we heard a Ted Talk  Daniel Ally about how to become a millionaire in 3 years in group we comment about on what he said. Finally each group made a list of the seven topics that generate controversy. In my group we made the following topics: homosexuality, religion, abortion, terrorism, soccer, gender equality and politic.
Finally for me it was a good class because I learned and practical new topics exchange of books and also practice listening ted talk that is fine because it helps improve for next exam.

In this class, my classmates and I had the exposure of different topics. In my case I talked about what is family? Family for me is tolerance, communication, unión, it is love, father, mother and children; it is all that and more, is the first school  and perfect place to form the woman and man complete then I talked about my family, how  important they are for  me and some details about them.
My classmate Darlyn talked about her favorite hobbies. She said that has three favorite writers, Paulo Coelho, Robin Chapman and Carlos Cuauhtémoc Sánchez.
Vanessa also talked about her hobbies. She said “I like to go to eat pizza with my family also spoke of her dogs Tayra and Sissy and are their babies. she likes to hang out with friends and go dancing Then she talked about her favorite horror films like “the spell” and romantic as " I Before You”. She also said “I love to go to the beach. Adriana spoke about Physical activity. She said it’s very important to do excercise regulary, you have  amazing benefits as running, lifting weights and doing sit-ups.  Also help the Mental health, reduces anxiety, the body health and help to it relax you. She said a good conclusion and a good message "Love your life, be in love with your life every minute of it".
Then Fernando spoke about the misuse of money, for example technology. The cell phone is the most expensive in the store and people get into debt for having one.
And Johan told about “your future is now” he said “elementary school. It’s important we have time for play, study because go to high school is our responsability and go to univercity is our decision to become good  professionals. He said that our future is now because this is the only life we ​​have to enjoy what you do and of course have rules are important for each person to have a good life.
Johana talked about a very important topic "strategies for teaching children," she said "first do not force the situation. Children learn by watching cartoons, she recommended to watch movies and videos also learn playing with  cards  of animals and colors. Also listen to music and read a book.
In the end all I have to say is that the class was very interesting and I liked it because I learned new topics and knew a little more of my classmates and their interests also exhibitions are very important
because we put into practice our pronunciation and learn to control nerves.

In this class we started talking about report No. 5. some comments were about the fight  of Charlie at school to defend his friend Patrick. They also talked about how bad it was charlie for kissing sam in front of Mery. Charlie continues  Drugs and patrick kissed  Charlie. In my case I didn’t  make my report because I didn’t read this part the book  Because not had time, I had to study for grammar test, for exam reading strategies and conver quiz.
Then the teacher gave the exam, I did not want to see my exam because I left very badly and in the exam oral no I did very well either, my note was of five percent less I am very concerned about this.
So the teacher gave us exam answers and we heard again.
Then we work in groups. Each group had to give ideas about ideal Class  to Learning English. My group was  formed by Sandi, Johana and I. Our idea was, recordings, games and performances example ideas of game: first  explain the topic and after this  include the group in a game. Idea game 1: write in some papers irregulars verbs. In groups the guys have to find more irregulars verbs and set on correctily. The group to do this first ¡win!
Game 2: with children we are going to write or put a draw  or animal in the back of one child and his  classmates should to do a mimic and child should try to identify ¿what animal is? Before to apply the games teacher must to explain the topics. The game guarantees learning.
The ideas of other group were: 1 group tourism, 2 group interactive (game, natives peakers, songs and videos, 3 learning by playing, and 4 techno kids.
After we made face to face. We talked about these ideas. About What was the best idea. I said that for me, I like a combination of all. I think the class english should  be interactive, practice a lot pronountiation,listening, videos and other. The class not should be boring or very serious.
In this class we had to do exam, but the teacher Siad "the test will be the next class, Thanks God because I was need study more for the quiz but the truth The two word verbs to me are very difficult to learn, are very confusing because they are very similar.
Finally I liked the last class was interactive was not boring and oral practice to help improve my pronunciation lose my temper when I speak English.

In this class we started reading  the songs number 7 “Only God can judge  me” and after we heard  twice and comment on this song.
Also we made a ted talk about Obama Foundation Word Doc but first we copy questions of the  dropbox then we listen and answer questions.Some questions were: 1  when did he win elections? R/ In November.
2 Was a victory alone the change they were looking for? R\ No wasn’t.
3 What do schools have as goal? R\ prepare children to competition 21 Century.
4 Mention the 2 kinds of new technology to get power? R\ solar and green power.   
 Also we made a face to face about world brands. We had to ask the following questions and my case I said:
 1­­How much do people spend? R\ I think people spend a lot of money on anything that is not important.  
2 How much do you spend? R\ Not much, but when I have money Yeah, I like shopping.
3 What is that thing you would pay lots of money to buy it? R\ In this moment on shoes and clothing, but in the future I would like to spend on an amazing and big car, because I do not like small cars.
Most of the men said they do not spend in brands or things that do not need but if they spend on his motorcycle or car and some women said that if they spend on clothes, shoes, makeup and other also if they spend on brands.
We spoke with professor about  this and she gave you opinion also. I remember that she said people spend on things they do not need and do not buy or food for their children. My classmate Sandi said “I prefer have money for a medicine or food to my baby that spend clothing or shoes.
Finally we did the quiz about two words verbs and idioms. The quiz was not difficult but there was a lot I did not know, I studied everything not come out in the quiz.
 I liked the last class, because it was very practical and entertaining, also we practice
listening  that it is very important because it will help us improve the language and sharpen our hearing also it serves as practice for future exam listening.

In the last class the teacher wrote on the  blackboard a new theme about unit 10. In this topic we learned about future the formula: 1- subject / will /verb / rest. 2- subject / will / be / verb ing / rest. 3- subject / will/ have / v.p.p /rest, the professor read and  explained  the  page 67 then we made  practice the future with will.
Also we made the page 65 referring to time in the past, this is obout when to use: during, in, from, for, to, since and ago. Use: during, in and ago a point or period of time in the past for example: during the 1940s. In the 1940s. Over 70 years ago  and since, for, from  and to use a period of time that continues into the present for example: how long has the United Nations been in existence? Since 1945. For about the last 70 years. How long were the beatles togeder? From 1960 to 1970. For ten years.
After we studied the unit 10 language  summary (vocaulary) also we made groups to speak about page 64 the past and the future. My group was formed by Darlyn and Adriana and we spoke   about the images on the page for example the first Barbie, disco becomes the latest dance craze, millions of rubik’s cubes are sold and other. I remember saying that my favorite toy was a Barbie and I made her clothes at Christmas  always gave me Barbies and I very happy about it. Adriana said “I combed and painted the hair of my barbies” and Darlyn said: “I do not  liked the barbies I liked  tonka trucks”
Then some  classmates and teacher talked about the images and tv programs. Also we made listening and  we did the practice of the page 66 Word power historic events. Again we practice listening of page 68, to perfect futures and we  wrote down two changes for the each topic.
Then we did read a lecture of page 69 about tweet to eat and we answered the questions. Also we read by two minutes the song number 6 “Changes” and then we heard the song  after some classmates comment the message of the song and then we listen again.
 In the last class also we practice ted talk about Magnus Walker (Go with you gut feeling) it was very long and nobody understood, for me it was very difficult. Finally  the teacher asked the exam groups that come together to study or  to practice.
For me the last class was very long, gave time to do more and more things but I liked because I understood the themes that we saw.

The class started  listening the  comments of  my classmates about report # 4 of the book The perks of being a wallflower. In my case my comment was: that Charlie went with her sister at abort the baby when she returned Charlie  was  craying and smoking and she said him: Charlie you are smoking? She was very angry also she was going to tell the parents but remembered where they were. That was another secret to both. Charlie went to the home of Mery Elizabeth they took brandy and listened to music also they kissed and Charlie  touched her breasts his heart was beating very strong. He thinks that the fasteners are difficult. When I told my comment I was very nervous and I do not like the feeling so I hope that can overcome these fears. Also in this class I was very tired because I was in examinations in other courses and exam next Thursday we have much to study conver I think it will be very difficult because it takes everything we have seen and much vocabulary also. The teacher wrote a lot on the board, I was tired of seeing everything I had to copy
 Example of the new topic we saw. Present unreal conditional: Sam would go if he was invited.\ Sam wouldn’t go unless he was invited.\ Sam would go only if he was invited.\ Sam wouldn’t go even it he was invited. Also we saw expressing regret: should have\ v.p.p. subject \ should \ have \ p.p for example: I should have studied more languages when I was younger.
Hypothetical situations: if \ subject \ had \ v.p.p \ rest, \ subject \ could \ would \ have \ v.p.p \ rest. For example: if I had studied more languages when I was younger, I would have gone to U.S.A.So the professor explained all this to me I made it very difficult this topic but after I did the practice of the page 75 and I understood a little more It should also be perfectly mastered the formula of this topic to understand. Also we made a face to face as practice oral I had to go through each of the companions I had to say situations hypothetical and expressing regret.
Finally the teacher said that Thursday, october 20th, 2016 we have quiz.
Well for me this class was very important Because we learned many new things. And also practice oral part that helps improve fluency and practice the new theme and so understand it better.

Journal 10

In the last class we heard the song number  5 " the way I am" and we heard twice The teacher asked if we listen to songs in the house, but some classmates said "no time" in my case it is also true with all there is to do no time to practice she asked to practice to improve. She advised us to practice much because it helps improve our English and we can hear when we go to work on the bus with a headset, I think we can hear when we clean the house, in other words to do the purpose and practice much.

Then we heard a ted talk  about someone believes in us (Timothy Sandoval) he  speech to an audience to raise awareness in people. We did groups to work on this chat we talked and exchanged notes on what we understood about this ted talk My group consisted of sandi and Everly, then the teacher put the audio again to understand it better. Also a classmate of each group talked about Ted talk, what we understood.

The professor spoke As will be the oral exam She said the exam will be in groups of three people. Then all classmates began to form their groups. My group is formed by Nelsy, and Darlyn.

The teacher told us that we join with our respective groups to discuss and practice for the exam but my group was incomplete because neither Nelsy or Darlyn were in classes. I asked the teacher to let me be with the group Deiber, Everly and Vanessa she said yes. 

Well with this group we talked about exam, the topics and vocabulary we also practiced little. For this test we must have total control of the 7 units, grammar focus and vocabulary also the book the perks of being a wallflower so study hard to be prepared because for me it is not easy.

To finish the class, she did not leave task only make the journal as always and study hard for exam oral and listening part.

Well, the last class was very different because we do not work on the book interchange in other words we do not wrote anything only we practice listening, surely it was to serve us for exam practice. For me is excellent because we need a lot of practice in listening to improve and practice for the exam, in my case I need a lot of practice because it is very difficult and in my house I have little time.

Journal 9

 I didn't go to last class. This month has been very difficult and everything collides with conversation clases but my classmate Darlyn told me everything they did the last class.

First they made a comment about the book the perks of being a wallflower my comment about this part the book is: when they go home was a tradition visiting aunt Helen, She died when Charlie was seven years on December 24 and was the only one who gave him two gifts Charlie feels very bad at Christmas, because if she had not gone to buy two gifts, Christmas and birthday, she would be alive. Charlie feels jealous when Sam is with Craig and in the party he was drugged he thought about everything, then he lay down in the snow and made an angel found him asleep, the doctors said that he had to go to a psychiatrist when he returned to school every mocked him because he used suit that gave Patrick also he started smoking cigarettes, 10 per day. Charlie begins to go to a psychiatrist.

My classmate also said they heard a ted talk about Emma Gibbs and take note of everything that they understand then they exchanged notes and was  made a comment about this  and I heard it in YouTube Emma Gibbs talk about heartbroken and was the best thing that ever happened.

They worked in the unit 8 and teacher explained this unit.  They made the exercise of the page 51(would rather and would prefer) for example: would you prefer to study business or communications? I’d prefer to study business\ I’d prefer not to study either.

In this class the teacher explained the gerunds.  My classmates did a listening and answered questions about this listening. Finally the teacher wrote on the board the exam topics and will be on October 13. The exam will be an oral part, and another of Listen. In the oral part the teacher will ask any topic seen and listening may be Amanda Palmer or Emma Gibbs so you have to study for the two.

The last class was very important because they saw new topic, made a lot of practices, practices I could not do because it was impossible to get to class on time. And I'm worried because I lost the explanation of what they saw in class and also how come the test but thank God my classmate Darlyn explained to me a little about exam and the unit 8.

Journal 8

On Monday we heard the song Number 4; “let me blow ya mind as always heard twice, after we made a practice of listening this audio was a woman that her job was to be moving statue, I wrote what I understood audio, we continue listening to the audio to answer some questions about this audio, for example: 1 what university did she graduate from? R/ upstanding Liveral Art University. 2 what was her job? R/ moving statue. 3 What is what people really want to know? R/ who are this freaks in real life. 4 where did she stand on? R/ on a box. 5 what did she put at her feet? R/ a hat. 6 what did she give people when they gave her some money? R/ a flower. These are just some of the 20 questions of this practice

Then we study the vocabulary of the unit 7 to put it into practice in the book with unit 7, The world we live in. Also we talked about this topic.

The professor wrote in the blackboard a new topic : passive with prepositions, the examples were  :Pollution is threatening people’s health ( present continuos ) and forms  have contamined soil and water ( present perfect) .

Form 1: subject/ is/are being / v.p.p/ preposition/ rest, and form 2: subject/ has/have been / v.p.p/ preposition/ rest. About this we made a practice.

On page 47 we have heard a conversation between Carla and Andy, what can we do? They talked about the pollution in the river by the factory and therefore all fish were dying.

We made more practice in the book (interchange), after we talked about picture of the page 48, this was a group project, and I was with Darlyn and Nelsy. We discussed seen in the photos and we give solutions to the problem.

Melissa came to the classroom, she said we had to do an interview in English and also said it is obligatory Some comrades who already did, say it is not easy.

To end the class, the teacher left the task, read page 49 and answer the questions
the teacher also gave an address to practice listening to our home

well  this class I found very good because we practice a lot listening personally I think it's perfect because  is very difficult for me and practice helps me.

The truth is the first class where we practice listening, maybe that's why it costs,
so I hope this class will help us improve at this point.

Journal 7

The last  class began with the review of the Task (units 1 to 12), later we heard some audios to practice listening, this helps a lot to improve and understand the English, then the teacher wrote  on the blackboard two  new themes. The topics were: describing problems 1, structure: subject / be / past participle as adjective, for example: my pants are stained. 

Describing problems 2: need / keep / ing. For example: the oven needs  adjusting / everything keeps burning well  the teacher Yerlin explained all this, we also did practices on these topics.

Then we discuss some common complaints, for example: when the signal is lost, that always happens, also is very common that  the driver tries to charge you too much, and you have to wait a long time for your appointment, I think that happens all the time in the hospital San Carlos, step me many times when my son was a baby and my partner Johan talked about what lived with her baby in the hospital, 

It is very unfortunate that these things happen in a hospital, and in an emergency situation. 

 Also we read a conversation (it keeps burning).Were men against women, it was 

terrible, nothing was heard well, then we continue with more practical in the book.

To end the class the teacher asked us to talk a little about the book of the perks of being a wallflower, I was very nervous, always happens to me, and when I'm nervous I forget everything and what affects me and saddens me is that my English is not good I hope to lose the fear and improve of course, it is very difficult, but my greatest desire is to overcome this.

The teacher did not let Assignment for next class only to do the journal, 

that good because I have to study and there is always plenty to do and have no time to do the rest.

 Well, my opinion about the last class is that it was very good, interesting and especially useful because it does not neglect the practice of listening and conversation is good complement these two, there are teachers who focus more on  convesacional and to my listening is crucial to learn English.

I hope that in the next class we practice a lot especially listening to refine our ear.

Journal 6

The  first thing we did  last class was to correct the quiz last week, I could not finish it in class but the teacher said, they may end up at home.

Then we heard the third song (Cu when u get there) and we practice twice. Also we studied the vocabulary of the unit 5 to made the practices of the book,the topic was crossing  cultures, we made much practice about this topic and some listening.

The teacher made the fallowing question, what if we were to live in another country? What  would feel?  Most said that the hardest  part would be to leave the family, maybe they do not like the food, culture and clothing, everything is different in other countries, also all is very expensive, for example health and Irene said the vegetables are very expensive in the United States, also everything is about money and not easy  to find work. 

 In my case also  it would be very difficult to leave my family and my son even more, I would have to take my son, but I think it also has advantages as to improve  my english, know beautiful places and other cultures.

In the last class I learned different customs, for example in Canada:

if you are invited for a meal , you should be on time , not too early or late, Indonesia: never point to anything With your foot, in Egypt don´t eat, anything with your left hand, and the most curious to me is the custom of Thailand, never touch  anyone especially a child on the head, is very important to  know different customs from ours.   

Well in the last class we did group work to practice our oral expression, we made a series of questions for example , what country would you like to live in? Why? Who is the person you would most like to go abroad  with? What is something you would never travel without? And more.

 To finish, the teacher left the task to the next class, make the unit 7 to12.

The  class Monday liked me it was  very interesting, entertaining and learned from other cultures for my this class was  very important becouse I think it's very good to learn a little of everything.

Journal 5

The last class was a little  different. First, I arrived a Little late because there was so much traffic it was crazy.

When I got to class my classmates were doing a practice in the book and talk about the topic, and I joined them. We then discussed with the teacher about some news for example Jalé Berahimi and the stupid things she says and others.

 We made practice about past continuous vs simple past we also heard some audios for  practice, then I did the practice of past perfect and we continue to practice in the book until a phone rang and the teacher said we will have to do the quiz, the companion said it was an alarm but  the teacher in the first class said  if a phone was rang will make quiz.

Was made an oral activity,  my classmates  and I had to pass by  table of  Each partner and say a story in past, also the professor reviewed the homework left last Thursday. To end the practice we heard twice our second song.

The teacher left task,make units 1 to 6, journal and read the book.

And before leaving college she copied some questions on the board for the quiz, I could not answer anything because I was not  ready for a surprise quiz, I think no one was prepared.

The class was very helpful as always becase we practice pronunciation and listen and as I always say is very important that the teacher make her classes as well to improve our english.

With regard to the quiz I think it's not fair because it was not a call or message or companion had the phone in her hand it was alarm, I understand are rules and must be respected and now be careful not repeated and this situation should be a lesson for all. 

There are also classmates  who have excellent English not affected by not being prepared , but if I have no command of the language , if it affects.

Journal 4

In the last class the teacher told us that asked us to comment about the book  The perks  of being a wallflower. In my case my comment  was, this story is very interesting and a Little confuse. Charlie is a boy lonely because for hi mis very difficult make friends, but also Charlie is very intelligent, but he does not show it in their classes.

He write a journal about his life, one day wrote about his friend Michael, that Michael suicide, also I said that I think that Charlie was a Little perverted sometimes because terrible stories he wrote in his journal.

the teacher made a comment very different about this book, she said the Charlie no is pervert he is an adolescent, He's just experiencing and we all go through that, so I think she´s right, that made me change my opinion of him. 

The teacher explained new topics of the unit 3, for example Requests with modals, if clauses and gerunds. Obviously we practice in the book this topic and we  formed groups to discuss the issue seen and after tell the teacher what was discussed.

The teacher Yerlin reviewed the task of listening.

To end  the professor left more homework for next Monday, she said  to do the listening units 9 through 16 of the book also asked read the second part of the book The perks of being a Wallflower.

To finish this class was very different and interesting because I gave  my opinion about the story I had read, I liked the dynamic and hear the different comments of my classmates.

 I think this way to give the class helps a lot to improve our pronunciation and fluency, I know,  I always say. 

For me it is  very important to practice a lot  in class, as I said  this before that helps me improve every day a little  more and the teacher made all very practical classes, so thank you very much  for this.
