Journal 14

Journal 14
In this class we started reading  the songs number 7 “Only God can judge  me” and after we heard  twice and comment on this song.
Also we made a ted talk about Obama Foundation Word Doc but first we copy questions of the  dropbox then we listen and answer questions.Some questions were: 1  when did he win elections? R/ In November.
2 Was a victory alone the change they were looking for? R\ No wasn’t.
3 What do schools have as goal? R\ prepare children to competition 21 Century.
4 Mention the 2 kinds of new technology to get power? R\ solar and green power.   
 Also we made a face to face about world brands. We had to ask the following questions and my case I said:
 1­­How much do people spend? R\ I think people spend a lot of money on anything that is not important.  
2 How much do you spend? R\ Not much, but when I have money Yeah, I like shopping.
3 What is that thing you would pay lots of money to buy it? R\ In this moment on shoes and clothing, but in the future I would like to spend on an amazing and big car, because I do not like small cars.
Most of the men said they do not spend in brands or things that do not need but if they spend on his motorcycle or car and some women said that if they spend on clothes, shoes, makeup and other also if they spend on brands.
We spoke with professor about  this and she gave you opinion also. I remember that she said people spend on things they do not need and do not buy or food for their children. My classmate Sandi said “I prefer have money for a medicine or food to my baby that spend clothing or shoes.
Finally we did the quiz about two words verbs and idioms. The quiz was not difficult but there was a lot I did not know, I studied everything not come out in the quiz.
 I liked the last class, because it was very practical and entertaining, also we practice
listening  that it is very important because it will help us improve the language and sharpen our hearing also it serves as practice for future exam listening.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Journal # 12

Journal # 12
In the last class the teacher wrote on the  blackboard a new theme about unit 10. In this topic we learned about future the formula: 1- subject / will /verb / rest. 2- subject / will / be / verb ing / rest. 3- subject / will/ have / v.p.p /rest, the professor read and  explained  the  page 67 then we made  practice the future with will.
Also we made the page 65 referring to time in the past, this is obout when to use: during, in, from, for, to, since and ago. Use: during, in and ago a point or period of time in the past for example: during the 1940s. In the 1940s. Over 70 years ago  and since, for, from  and to use a period of time that continues into the present for example: how long has the United Nations been in existence? Since 1945. For about the last 70 years. How long were the beatles togeder? From 1960 to 1970. For ten years.
After we studied the unit 10 language  summary (vocaulary) also we made groups to speak about page 64 the past and the future. My group was formed by Darlyn and Adriana and we spoke   about the images on the page for example the first Barbie, disco becomes the latest dance craze, millions of rubik’s cubes are sold and other. I remember saying that my favorite toy was a Barbie and I made her clothes at Christmas  always gave me Barbies and I very happy about it. Adriana said “I combed and painted the hair of my barbies” and Darlyn said: “I do not  liked the barbies I liked  tonka trucks”
Then some  classmates and teacher talked about the images and tv programs. Also we made listening and  we did the practice of the page 66 Word power historic events. Again we practice listening of page 68, to perfect futures and we  wrote down two changes for the each topic.
Then we did read a lecture of page 69 about tweet to eat and we answered the questions. Also we read by two minutes the song number 6 “Changes” and then we heard the song  after some classmates comment the message of the song and then we listen again.
 In the last class also we practice ted talk about Magnus Walker (Go with you gut feeling) it was very long and nobody understood, for me it was very difficult. Finally  the teacher asked the exam groups that come together to study or  to practice.
For me the last class was very long, gave time to do more and more things but I liked because I understood the themes that we saw.

Journal 11

Journal #11
The class started  listening the  comments of  my classmates about report # 4 of the book The perks of being a wallflower. In my case my comment was: that Charlie went with her sister at abort the baby when she returned Charlie  was  craying and smoking and she said him: Charlie you are smoking? She was very angry also she was going to tell the parents but remembered where they were. That was another secret to both. Charlie went to the home of Mery Elizabeth they took brandy and listened to music also they kissed and Charlie  touched her breasts his heart was beating very strong. He thinks that the fasteners are difficult. When I told my comment I was very nervous and I do not like the feeling so I hope that can overcome these fears. Also in this class I was very tired because I was in examinations in other courses and exam next Thursday we have much to study conver I think it will be very difficult because it takes everything we have seen and much vocabulary also. The teacher wrote a lot on the board, I was tired of seeing everything I had to copy
 Example of the new topic we saw. Present unreal conditional: Sam would go if he was invited.\ Sam wouldn’t go unless he was invited.\ Sam would go only if he was invited.\ Sam wouldn’t go even it he was invited. Also we saw expressing regret: should have\ v.p.p. subject \ should \ have \ p.p for example: I should have studied more languages when I was younger.
Hypothetical situations: if \ subject \ had \ v.p.p \ rest, \ subject \ could \ would \ have \ v.p.p \ rest. For example: if I had studied more languages when I was younger, I would have gone to U.S.A.So the professor explained all this to me I made it very difficult this topic but after I did the practice of the page 75 and I understood a little more It should also be perfectly mastered the formula of this topic to understand. Also we made a face to face as practice oral I had to go through each of the companions I had to say situations hypothetical and expressing regret.
Finally the teacher said that Thursday, october 20th, 2016 we have quiz.
Well for me this class was very important Because we learned many new things. And also practice oral part that helps improve fluency and practice the new theme and so understand it better.

Journal 10

In the last class we heard the song number  5 " the way I am" and we heard twice The teacher asked if we listen to songs in the house, but some classmates said "no time" in my case it is also true with all there is to do no time to practice she asked to practice to improve. She advised us to practice much because it helps improve our English and we can hear when we go to work on the bus with a headset, I think we can hear when we clean the house, in other words to do the purpose and practice much.
Then we heard a ted talk  about someone believes in us (Timothy Sandoval) he  speech to an audience to raise awareness in people. We did groups to work on this chat we talked and exchanged notes on what we understood about this ted talk My group consisted of sandi and Everly, then the teacher put the audio again to understand it better. Also a classmate of each group talked about Ted talk, what we understood.
The professor spoke As will be the oral exam She said the exam will be in groups of three people. Then all classmates began to form their groups. My group is formed by Nelsy, and Darlyn.
The teacher told us that we join with our respective groups to discuss and practice for the exam but my group was incomplete because neither Nelsy or Darlyn were in classes. I asked the teacher to let me be with the group Deiber, Everly and Vanessa she said yes. 
Well with this group we talked about exam, the topics and vocabulary we also practiced little. For this test we must have total control of the 7 units, grammar focus and vocabulary also the book the perks of being a wallflower so study hard to be prepared because for me it is not easy.
To finish the class, she did not leave task only make the journal as always and study hard for exam oral and listening part.
Well, the last class was very different because we do not work on the book interchange in other words we do not wrote anything only we practice listening, surely it was to serve us for exam practice. For me is excellent because we need a lot of practice in listening to improve and practice for the exam, in my case I need a lot of practice because it is very difficult and in my house I have little time.

Journal 9

 I didn't go to last class. This month has been very difficult and everything collides with conversation clases but my classmate Darlyn told me everything they did the last class.
First they made a comment about the book the perks of being a wallflower my comment about this part the book is: when they go home was a tradition visiting aunt Helen, She died when Charlie was seven years on December 24 and was the only one who gave him two gifts Charlie feels very bad at Christmas, because if she had not gone to buy two gifts, Christmas and birthday, she would be alive. Charlie feels jealous when Sam is with Craig and in the party he was drugged he thought about everything, then he lay down in the snow and made an angel found him asleep, the doctors said that he had to go to a psychiatrist when he returned to school every mocked him because he used suit that gave Patrick also he started smoking cigarettes, 10 per day. Charlie begins to go to a psychiatrist.
My classmate also said they heard a ted talk about Emma Gibbs and take note of everything that they understand then they exchanged notes and was  made a comment about this  and I heard it in YouTube Emma Gibbs talk about heartbroken and was the best thing that ever happened.
They worked in the unit 8 and teacher explained this unit.  They made the exercise of the page 51(would rather and would prefer) for example: would you prefer to study business or communications? I’d prefer to study business\ I’d prefer not to study either.
In this class the teacher explained the gerunds.  My classmates did a listening and answered questions about this listening. Finally the teacher wrote on the board the exam topics and will be on October 13. The exam will be an oral part, and another of Listen. In the oral part the teacher will ask any topic seen and listening may be Amanda Palmer or Emma Gibbs so you have to study for the two.
The last class was very important because they saw new topic, made a lot of practices, practices I could not do because it was impossible to get to class on time. And I'm worried because I lost the explanation of what they saw in class and also how come the test but thank God my classmate Darlyn explained to me a little about exam and the unit 8.
